BIBLICAL DEBATE: DID WES HUFF GET IT WRONG WHILE BILLY CARSON WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG – MYTHVISION PODCAST
Wes Huff, a young student linguist and apologist cut and ran into the bushes of his busy life and schedule after the big debate against Billy Carson. Due to the emotional breakdown recently of Billy Carson, many Christians are taking it as an opportunity to teach against the dangers of the ego and the importance of mercy through what Billy Carson is personally going through since the entire issue hurt his career.
While Wes Huff has been gone from the spotlight however, some have been excellently and carefully revealing the misrepresentations of Wes Huff, that we should absorb into our knowledge and judgement regarding the defenses and claims of both Wes Huff and Billy Carson.
Here are three to four hours of full conversation with the MythVision Podcast. I highly recommend listening to both of these conversations from both Dr. Joshua Bowen, an Assyriologist and Gnostic Informant. Dr. Joshua Bowen focuses on how ancient myths are intertwined within the Old Testament, to demonstrate the extents to which biblical narratives were influenced by ancient Near Eastern myths — something that I brought up in Challenging Christianity, American “Judeo-Christian” Frameworks and Religious Limitations.
The conversation with MythVision dissects the debate between Billy Carson and Wes Huff, as well as the misrepresentations and agenda of apologetics. Why are there general motifs stemming from the myths of past major civilizations is an important question we should ask about these texts. It is explained that what scholars mean by copy and what Billy Carson mean has a difference. It is not saying they are the same myths, but there is a spin going on. This spin demonstrates a relatable connection, and the differences give the Bible its unique spin. Dependency and iterations are not technically copies, but the dependency on older myths is undeniable.
However, the Christian, the apologist presupposes this superior explanation of The Bible. This is exactly the same thing apologists do as the strawman non-believer represented by the psycho in the film Heretic (2024) who argues to the Mormon women, that Jesus is a “copy” of older gods. Dr. Joshua Bowen explains what scholars mean by the dependency of the texts on other myths, or their connections and iterations. The similarities with older myths make the study of The Bible more meaningful, rather than the exclusivist, superior, uniqueness argument Christians obtain from their interpretations of the text.
WES HUFF IS LYING LIKE THEY ACCUSED BILLY CARSON
“You got famous overnight for showing that Billy Carson was lying about the Sinai Bible. Here you are lying about the Sinai Bible.” (Gnostic informant)
