The Sepher Yetzirah tradition (3rd-6th centuries CE) as the earliest Hebrew cosmological-mystical text revealed occult letters and the sefirot as powers not emanations. The Sepher Yetzirah is the earliest of such texts. It was used in closed circles, as esoteric commentary tradition.
