Tamil Swami Ramalingam Pillai’s Prophecy

YOGI RAMALINGAM PILLAI PROPHECY

Daleep Singh and Thakur Singh had a prophecy related to Russia and the West, but so did a well-known swami in Southern India, Vallalār, also known as Ramalinga Swamigal and Ramalinga Adigal. This important figure in Tamil history is mentioned as Chidambaram Ramalingam Pillai Avergal (also called Arulprakasa Vallalare) in Theosophy, and this yogi was known as one of the most famous Tamil saints, one of the greatest Tamil poets of the 19th century. He belonged to a line of Tamil saints known as “gnana siddhars” (gnana meaning higher wisdom).

Ramalinga was a strong advocate against the caste system and often spoke of its negative impacts on society. He founded the “Samarasa Suddha Sanmarga Satya Sangam” in 1865, meaning “Society for pure truth in universal self hood.” The Sathya Dharma Salai at Vadalur was a eating house founded in 1867 to provide free meals without regard to caste differences. Ramalinga was also strictly against meat eating. God is “Arut Perum Jothi,” the personification of mercy and knowledge for him, and the basis of his teaching was “Service to mankind is the path of moksha (liberation).”

A disciple of Ramalingam who was also a member of the Theosophical Society, Tholuvore Velayudham Mudaliar, a pandit of the Presidency College in Madras issued a statement in 1882 about him, and explained his teachings further:

He held that spiritual liberation can be attained in this life, and that death was not natural, therefore it was not necessary to die to experience the ultimate spiritual experience. Several poems of his are compiled in a book called Thiruvarutpa.

So, two prophecies as in Were the Theosophical Masters Sikh coincidentally about Russia, though dissimilar.

Ramalingam Pillai was said to have predicted the arrival of H.P. Blavatsky and H.S. Olcott to India in 1873 a year before they actually met and six before they came to India. H.P. Blavatsky explained, that the Theosophical Society was founded at the direct suggestion of Indian and Tibetan Adepts; and “that in coming to this country we but obeyed their wishes. But we shall leave our friends to draw their own inferences from all the facts.”

According to his disciple Tholuvore Velayudham Mudaliar, a member of the Theosophical Society, Mr. Mudaliar stated that Yogi Ramalinga prophesied to him, that:

“During the latter part of his visible earthly career, he often expressed his bitter sorrow for this sad state of things, and repeatedly exclaimed”

“You are not fit to become members of this Society of Universal Brotherhood. The real members of that Brotherhood are living far away, towards the North of India. You do not listen to me. You do not follow the principles of my teachings. You seem to be determined not to be convinced by me. YET THE TIME IS NOT FAR OFF, WHEN PERSONS FROM RUSSIA, AMERICA (these two countries were always named), and other foreign lands WILL COME TO INDIA AND PREACH TO YOU THIS SAME DOCTRINE OF UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD. Then only, will you know and appreciate the grand truths that I am now vainly trying to make you accept. You will soon find that THE BROTHERS WHO LIVE IN THE FAR NORTH will work a great many wonders in India, and thus confer incalculable benefits upon this our country.”

This prophecy has, in my opinion, just been literally fulfilled. The fact, that the Mahatmas in the North exist, is no new idea to us, Hindus; and the strange fact that the advent of Madame Blavatsky and Colonel Olcott from Russia and America was foretold several years before they came to India, is an incontrovertible proof that my Guru was in communication with those Mahatmas under whose directions the Theosophical Society was subsequently founded.”

This is part of a series that provides a better understanding of the role and history involving “the Masters.” that were said to be secret sponsors behind the Theosophical Movement and its operations. These circles of adepts, including their disciples and associates were said to have activities in South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, the Americas and Europe.
